One Six Right" is an exhilarating documentary film that celebrates the unsung hero of aviation – the local airport – by tracing the life, history, and struggles of an airport icon: Southern California’s Van Nuys Airport. Featuring thrilling aerial photography and a sweeping original score, the film dispels common misconceptions and opposes criticism of General Aviation airports. Through the love story of one airport, past to present, the film shares the timeless romance of flying with all ages.
The film takes viewers on a journey of spectacular aerial sequences and tells a romantic story through the accounts of passionate pilots, air traffic controllers, historians and flight enthusiasts, including well-known faces such as Sydney Pollack, Lorenzo Lamas, Paul Moyer, Hal Fishman and many others. There is no off-screen narrator.
“One Six Right” explores common misconceptions about General Aviation airports, which are often criticized for noise pollution and viewed as exclusive playgrounds for the rich. The film creates an awareness of the threat to these community airports through staggering statistics of airports that no longer exist, and the rapid rate at which they are continuing to close (1 per week in the U.S.). Airports are not a renewable resource – these smaller and often forgotten airports are the foundation of the entire aviation industry, contributing significantly to global commerce and are the breeding ground of the pilots of tomorrow.
ASAs newest DVD ground school, Helicopter Fundamentals, guides viewers through the important concepts and vagaries of helicopter flight. This award-winning production makes explanations come to life with in-flight demonstrations and the latest 3D animated graphics. Aerodynamics are covered in detail from retreating blade stall to autorotation. Cockpit point-of-view footage helps viewers experience maneuvers from the pilots perspective.
Helicopter Fundamentals supplements the airplane Virtual Test Prep ground school courses. Complete both the airplane and helicopter courses to prepare for private pilot, instrument rating, commercial pilot, or flight instructor (CFI) FAA Knowledge Exams. Used together, the courses provide everything needed to ace the Helicopter FAA Knowledge Exam.
Also includes a bonus account for www.prepware.com which allows the user to take 5 practice tests. Practice test results can then be used to receive an endorsement from ASA to take the Helicopter FAA Knowledge Exam.

Unlike the final days of steam railways, the passing of working propliners seems to have gone largely unrecorded. So, we're very grateful to John Tansley for capturing them on video during the late 80s and early 90s.
A few years ago, avion video digitally remastered and enhanced the best of John's material and produced two programmes Big Props Europe and Big Props USA.
Now, re-released on a double DVD set that gives the best possible picture quality at a great price - far cheaper than buying the two videos!
Here are the highlights from both programmes.
Big Props Europe A flightdeck ride on the MATS Connie
Sunderland at West Malling Airshow
Bristol Freighter at Lydd Airshow

For more than 20 years, Heavylift has been the company organizations turn to when they need to safely and reliably transport a large piece of equipment by air. That is why today Heavylift is recognized around the world as the first choice outsize carrier for businesses in a wide variety of sectors. The Belfast first flew in 1964 and only 10 were built for the RAF. Half of those ended up in service with HeavyLift.
This program shows exactly what kind of operations Heavylift undertakes as we ferry the Belfast from Paris to Madrid to pickup a crane destined for Dakar in Senegal. Because of the weight of this piece of equipment we have to stop in Las Palmas on the Spanish Canary Islands to refuel the aircraft. On the way back from Dakar to Southend we are empty and as a result the Belfast can do a 9 hour nonstop flight!
